Spring Gardening: Planting Fragrant Sensory Flowerbeds

Our landscaped courtyard garden came alive with tactile herbs and vibrant spring blossoms during our resident gardening club workshop.

Spring Gardening: Planting Fragrant Sensory Flowerbeds

With the first signs of warm spring sunshine reaching Grantham, our resident gardening club eagerly gathered on the paved courtyard patio for an outdoor planting workshop.

Together with our dedicated wellbeing team, residents potted English lavender, rosemary, sweet mint, and an array of colorful pansies into accessible raised planters and window boxes. These specific plants were chosen for their sensory properties—releasing calming fragrances and encouraging tactile interaction.

Gardening offers therapeutic benefits including gentle physical mobility, fresh air, and a profound sense of accomplishment. Residents who have spent their lives tending gardens took pride in sharing their expert pruning and planting advice with our team.

The new planters now line the pathways leading to our water fountain, offering a peaceful sensory stroll for residents and visiting families throughout the spring and summer seasons.

There is nothing quite like the scent of fresh lavender and soil in the springtime. It keeps our hands active and our spirits high.
