Music holds a truly special place at Harrowby Lodge. We were thrilled to welcome the Grantham Community Choir to our lounge for a bespoke afternoon vocal recital.
The choir performed a curated selection of traditional hymns, English folk melodies, and beloved tunes from the 1940s and 50s. The acoustics in our spacious high-ceilinged Victorian lounge provided the perfect setting for their harmonies.
For residents living with dementia or cognitive challenges, music is a proven pathway to emotional well-being and recall. Several residents who are typically quiet began humming along, tap-dancing their feet, and sharing memories of local dances they attended in their youth.
Following the performance, choir members stayed to chat with our residents over hot cups of tea and freshly baked biscuits, reinforcing the strong community bonds between Harrowby Lodge and the wider Grantham area.
“The music brought back so many wonderful memories of Grantham in years gone by. It truly brightened everyone's week.”
