Creativity has no age limit, and our weekly arts and crafts workshop remains one of the most popular activities on the Harrowby Lodge calendar. This week, residents explored watercolour painting and ceramic decorating.
Guided by our Activities Coordinator, participants painted serene Lincolnshire country landscapes, garden wildlife, and floral still-lifes. Adaptable brushes and non-toxic, washable paints ensured that residents with varying dexterity and mobility could participate effortlessly and comfortably.
Creative activities provide crucial cognitive stimulation, improve fine motor skills, and give residents a tangible sense of pride in their finished creations. Completed paintings are proudly framed and displayed along our bright corridors and in residents' private bedrooms.
The session concluded with an informal 'art gallery tea', where residents admired each other's artwork while enjoying afternoon refreshments.
“Our art sessions give every resident an open canvas to express themselves freely. The pride in their faces when their paintings are hung up is priceless.”
